Absolutly STUNNING Vintage Scarf VERY BIG- 35 X 34 Design is a Ornate Baroque, Medalions & Chains w/Regal Lion in Center WONDERFUL JEWEL TONE COLORS- Black, Red, Royal Blue, Gold,Dark Jade Green, & White Scarf has no hang tag but- I am pretty sure its Silk. Vera Neumann(1907-1993) Best known by her fans simply be her first name, Vera's work in the decorative arts is a cornerstone within the "Mod" movement. Her career began in New York City in 1946, when she turned her kitchen table into a studio space for silkscreening floral designs on to placemats. From there the Vera empire boomed, and her product line eventually expanded from these hand made pieces to ceramics, textiles, sportswear, wallpaper, and virtually any other type of home or personal accessory imaginable. Also be on the lookout for Vera's fine arts. Her works on paper are outstanding if you can find an example! In July of 2008, filmmaker Fred Salaff released two documentary DVDs about Vera's work and life. Vera Paints Ibiza in the Sun and In the Company of Vera should give an extraordinary insight into the designer through the eyes of Mr. Salaff, her nephew. The films are currently being sold through Salaff's Golden Age Productions website. When is a Scarf a Painting? When is a Painting a Scarf? Whenever VERA does them. How you wear them is up to you! Vera is an Artist that designs these with paint and a paint brush. Veras prints are Handscreened onto Scarves as well as Blouses, Shifts & Linins. Vera's designs are registered in the Library of Congress as works of Art. Happy Collecting!!!!!!
