This unusual hanky is of fine, gossimer, whisper thin SILK with a mint green border and white center. Pictures show a World War I soldier saying good-bye to his sweetheart. Underneath them is printed... 'For The Flag and You'. To the right are two American Flags draped and pulled up together. One has 31 stars, and the other one has 13 stars in a circle. Below the flags is an eagle with its wings spread, and holding a banner in its mouth. On the banner is, 'Just Hello'. Below the banner in a lovely poem that reads... 'I'd like to be with you awhile and hear about the folks. I'd like to sit and see you smile at the same old jokes. But since you are so far away I cannot hope to go. I'll send along this little token, just to say hello'. There are a couple of pulled areas in the silk, (not holes), and there is a printing flaw, (space), through the word "JUST", and through a small section of the eagle's wing. This fabulous piece of the past would be so nice framed! Measures...14-1/2" square. Please check my other listings and my store for more beautiful and unusual hankies! All of my hankies are first wrapped in tissue paper, then placed into a special cellophane bag, and shipped in a padded envelope. I DO NOT just toss them "naked" into a regular envelope, and slap on a first class stamp as many hanky sellers do. These are rare vintage pieces of the past, and deserve to be treated with loving care.
